So I was thinking about what to write for my first post on my new blog and figured I would write about one of my biggest passions that has developed over the past couple years and that is crafts :) I have always made cards for Mom and Dad since I was little and loved to make pretty things. Growing up I would go to visit my Grandma in Nevada City during the summer for a week and we would spend time making cards or working on one of her many scrapbooks in her awesome craft closet. Of course all of my stuff was never really pro or really good-looking but its the thought and love put into it that counts right? No matter how much my cards would turn out to look like a little elementary school kid made it with cut and paste, Daddy loved them so I kept at it! Right now I am at work trying to find a bunch of the things I have made in the past and given to my family so I can take pictures and post them to maybe inspire others.
One of my most recent projects was making a gift for Haley and Zack's birthday a couple weeks ago, unfortunately I didn't take any pictures of his gift but I had made him a wallet out of pixel camo duct tape and clear packing tape, turned out pretty cool for my first time doing it I think. I made Haley a cute card and a cork board with ribbon cross strings to tuck in photos. I have gotten in this mood for making those boards, not really sure why but maybe it is because I take so many photos and want to print them all and put them on a board on the wall. Its just so cute.
I think one of the things I enjoy the most is making envelopes for all the cards I make. All unique and so many ways you can make them. With Haley's card, I made it slip in length wise and have two sides fold over and tie with a ribbon held on by little silver brads. Another thing I love, and don't really know why, is ribbon!!! It is so pretty, cute and dresses everything up. I used to wear a ribbon or two in my hair almost every day in high school. I eventually stopped because I felt like it made me look like a little kid and I still feel that way :P If I could I would wear a little ribbon bow in my hair right now. Only every once in a while. Its getting late and I have class in the morning so I will write more later and maybe get some more good pics :)
